Top 20 Coolest Guitar Riffs - via a clever cookie This is an interesting list. There are a few misses (Green Day?) and a couple of these are more like solos than riffs…but, it’s entertaining regardless. Without thinking about it too much, I’d add: Black Crowes - “No Speak, No Slave” Stone Temple Pilots - “Interstate Love Song” Guns N Roses -...

Old Images of One Times Square (click) →
This is interesting to me, as I look directly at this building while seated at my desk. For some reason, they show a newer picture of 2 Times Square (with the Coke/Samsung displays), but the old pictures of 1 Times Square are pretty cool. Currently, 1 Times Square hosts the Budweiser, TDK, Yahoo! and Dow Jones “zipper” displays.
My Cell Phone Was Stolen (repost from Oats)
My cell phone was taken by a nice* thief today at the Metropolitan Pool & Fitness Center (on Bedford in Williamsburg). Until further notice, my preferred (and only) method of contact is via email… nick gray at googlemail. The Holiday perp took a half-dozen Andrew Jacksons out of my wallet, too. So I figure that I paid a Careless Tax of not changing the default lock combination on my...
Piss-Poor Inventory Managment - That Was Easy.
On Wednesday, I found what I thought was the perfect holiday gift for someone on my list. The gift happened to be available at Staples.com, and coincidentally, they were offering a nice rebate on that product. Nice! Place item in shopping cart. Enter shipping info. Enter billing info, including credit card. Click purchase. Receive confirmation email that order has been placed and product will...

Including those of a castrato (a man who was forcibly castrated so that he would retain his boyish soprano), the first recorded human voice from 1878, and the last 30 minutes of audio from the Jonestown Massacre. via Kottke. — zachklein I’m loving the “Numbers station” recording.

I think we can all agree that smart people are few and far between. So how has Jeopardy! been able to stay on the air for so long? Seems like they would run out of brainiacs. — dalasverdugo Have faith in the human species. Don’t base your judgement on the limited, cross-sectional view that we all have.

“Vífill claims he was passed on to several people, each of them quizzing him on President Grímsson’s date of birth, where he grew up, who his parents were and the date he entered office. “It was like passing through checkpoints,” he said. “But I had Wikipedia and a few other sites open, so it was not so difficult really.”

Before I moved to the east coast I’d never heard anyone say “on line” to mean that they were standing in a line. That doesn’t make any fucking sense. It’s “in line” as far as I’m concerned. “On line” is the last two words of AOL. — jstn I agree 100%. “On line”, in that context, sounds so foreign to me.

Here you go. It’s the next 8 songs on In Rainbows that came with the $90 disc box (shipped Dec. 3). There are two throw away transition songs, but the other 6 are fantastic. Have a listen.
